According to some scientific study, discovered that the ear canal can be a sign of upcoming heart attacks! Yes, it sounds unbelievable, but it has been confirmed by some studies!
In 1973, Dr. Sanders T. Frank and his team of researchers published a study in the New England Journal of Medicine, claiming that a diagonal earlobe crease, also known by the name “Frank’s Sign’” which can indicate coronary artery disease. This disease occurs when there’s plaque build-up in the arteries that restricts normal blood flow.
In 1984, another team of scientists proposed the same theory. In a study included 43 men and 20 women who had the crease and ear canal hair and have also experienced cardiac failure. One of the scientists, Dr. Richard F. Wagner of Boston University Medical School. 5 years later in 1989, there was another study published in the Indian Health Journal which examined the link between the crease, ear canal hair and coronary artery disease.
The study involving 215 Indian patients and showed that ear hair prevalence advances with age. As the authors wrote “A significant difference was also observed between men with and without CAD in the presence of ear-canal hair with age matched group.”
Edston E. published his study in the June 2006 edition of the American Journal of Forensic Medical Pathology. He studies 500 autopsies and measured the BMI, spleen weight, ear hair, earlobe crease, cause of death, baldness, thickness of abdominal fat and other characteristics. “It was found that ELC (earlobe crease) was strongly correlated with CAD in both men and women (P < 0.0001) but with sudden cardiac death (SCD) only in men (P < 0.04).”
Some experts accuse testosterone supplements as the major cause of ear canal hair and heart attacks, this is probably a typical characteristic of the aging process and people can die from heart attacks due to old age and obesity, not just ear canal hair.
